The Artists

Lisha Mack and Alex Mack are mother and daughter from Longview, Texas, who collaborate in an abstract art business called “My Peoples” Art. The acrylic paintings feature Alex’s perfectly imperfect figures she calls “My Peoples” and Lisha’s abstract backgrounds. They have been featured on their local news channels as well as publications such as Shoutout DFW, ETX View, and La Louisiane. Since the inception of “My Peoples” Art in 2020, Lisha and Alex have completed approximately 230 paintings with those numbers rising each month. Their collaborative paintings have been a means for Alex to support herself and have helped nonprofits raise over $60,000.

Alex is a college student at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the UL LIFE (Learning Is For Everyone) program and is a Delta Delta Delta sorority member. Alex was the first person from her school district with Down syndrome to graduate from high school with a regular high school diploma, having advanced K-12 in totally inclusive education. Alex was a four-year high school cheerleader and an active member — and sometimes leader — of several service clubs. Alex loves to write songs, poetry, and devotionals. She is a “BFF” to just about everyone she meets and a self-proclaimed prayer warrior. Alex lives in a townhouse at college and with her parents in Longview during breaks.
